This event is the European Junior Qualifier event for the Junior World Championships.
Due to this status, the qualification criteria for this event do not follow the general Junior Continental Cup Qualification Criteria.
The start lists will contain up to 120 athletes. NF quota and host NF quota are 2 athletes. According to the 2022 Junior Continental Championships results, some NFs have an extended quota:
Men: FRA 4 athletes, GBR 4 athletes, GER 3 athletes, and ITA 4 athletes.
Women: BEL 3 athletes, FRA 3 athletes, GBR 4 athletes, and GER 3 athletes.

If start lists are incomplete, the NF quotas may be increased by one athlete, then by two athletes, and then by three athletes till a maximum of ten athletes.

Non-European athletes will not be allowed to compete.
