Kiwi youngster Aaron Barclay topped the men's triathlon with a time of 54:41, claiming the first gold medal in the Youth Olympic Games men's triathlon. Kevin McDowell (USA) took silver, while Alois Knabl (AUT) finished in third.

A team comprising another Olympian Alois Knabl (AUT), Fanny Beisaron (ISR), Miguel Fernandes (POR) and Eszter Dudas (HUN) won the first YOG Mixed Relay golds
